Noen minutter forbi Knapphus ligger idylliske Årdal. Herfra er starten for flere fine turløyper, og der i blant Aksla. Turen til Akslå går først på traktorvei opp til Sletthaug, på 485moh, og her i fra er det sti opp til toppen. Veien fra Sletthaug og opp til Aksla har noen bratte parier men stort sett en grei vei opp.

Aksla mountain, located in Øvre Vats, Vindafjord municipality, offers a challenging and scenic hiking experience. The hike to Aksla starts from Aurdal in Øvre Vats and is well-signposted from the E134, with parking available at the end of the road near the Aurdal farm​​. The hike to Aksla, with an elevation of 693 meters above sea level, is described as demanding. One popular route to Aksla is via Sletthaug, which is at 485 meters above sea level. This hike covers a distance of about 5.3 kilometers and takes approximately 2 hours, encompassing a total elevation gain of 652 meters. The trail is open year-round, but it includes some steep sections. Along the way, there are several name signs and sitting benches, one near the river at Fjellgardsbakken and another further up​

Access to the trailhead is achieved by taking the E134 towards Aurdal in Øvre Vats and following the road to the parking area near a service building. The hike begins by following a tractor road all the way to Sletthaugen, where signs direct hikers towards Sletthaug/Aksla​
