Noen minutter forbi Knapphus ligger idylliske Årdal. Herfra er starten for flere fine turløyper, og der i blant Aksla. Turen til Akslå går først på traktorvei opp til Sletthaug, på 485moh, og her i fra er det sti opp til toppen. Veien fra Sletthaug og opp til Aksla har noen bratte parier men stort sett en grei vei opp.

The hike to Aksla starts from Aurdal in Øvre Vats and is well-signposted from the E134, with parking available at the end of the road near the Aurdal farm. The hike to Aksla, with an elevation of 693 meters above sea level, is described as demanding. One popular route to Aksla is via Sletthaug, which is at 485 meters above sea level. This hike covers a distance of about 5.3 kilometers and takes approximately 2 hours, encompassing a total elevation gain of 652 meters. Access to the trailhead is achieved by taking the E134 towards Aurdal in Øvre Vats and following the road to the parking area near a service building. The hike begins by following a tractor road all the way to Sletthaugen, where signs direct hikers towards Sletthaug/Aksla
